The Ryan S update
alright...figured i would fill you guys in on my progress.....ok....i'm gonna brag a little bit about my healing powers lol....i got some things in my favor however....i'm a very young amputee, i'm young, and yes, i'm young......i've never broken a bone before this.....and i drank a **** ton of milk my whole life
weather changes suck, i don't feel them in my leg, but keep in mind that i fractured some vertebrate in my back and i also had a nasty collar bone break where the bone almost exited my body (lori please post a gangster x-ray here) instead of exiting, it just ripped through a handful of important tissue and nerves therefore leaving my skin from my neck to my shoulder numb to the touch still.....and the docs think that this may be why i have back pains due to weather changes...yes, i know when it will snow and approx how much we will get....
i got my 5-6 month prosthetic last week and i absolutely love it. posthetic labs in madison made me a leg about 3 pounds lighter than the first one i had.....HUGE difference, i honestly didn't think i would ever be able to ride like i used to with that thing.....it's a different story with this new leg.....i'm walking without crutches but under a tremendous amount of pain.....i had a surgery done that's not so common.....they took the scraps of my tib and/or fib and pealed the bone's membrane off it and chipped fragments of bone and rolled them up to create a sausage thingy and stuck it between my tib and fib....where they cut me off.....this is creating a bone bridge between my bones so i will be able to bear more weight on it in the future.....however.....the healing process takes about a year.....they tell me it's going to hurt like hell for about a year until that bone heals together completely....nice.
i have been riding a snowmobile and feel as though i'm as good as when i had 2 legs.....i really want to ride my stunt bike on PAVEMENT....just to prove to myself that i can get back to where my riding was last august....
i go to mercy for theropy 2 days a week and between going to the post office, working on new sponsorships for 08, court for my tickets, and my prosthetic office, i keep myself pretty busy
i get lots of pm's here and other forums, numerous messages on email and myspace and i realize how much word travels in the motorcycle industry....i'm glad i'm a part of it and i really want to thank everybody that's helped me with all this......seriously.....you may not think a pm is a big deal.....but after a pretty serious injury.....it makes the day go by a little better.
some people were worried how i would take this injury....losing a leg is no joke, simple **** is hard....i'm pretty bull headed however and i'm not going to lie, mornings are the hardest time to deal with such a thing, but i'm learning to deal with things better and i'm not gonna just lay in bed the rest of my life.....i want to get back to breakin bikes again!!!:YEAH :YEAH

Like I told you before... I am better off having known you, and your situation really hits home for me cuz of our similarities with hobbies and ****.... I love to hunt and you do too, I love to stunt, and you are waaaay farther ahead of me on that , but with the hunting I may be alittle bit further along than you....regardless we love what it is we do!
Plus alot of people do not know I have a chronic illness which causes me alot of daily pain that I have to work through also. It's never getting better for me and I won't lie that I do think about you and your situation whenever things are shitty for me.
Thanks for all the updates and pm's and myspace replies bro...... I'm rooting for you like we all are and hope to walk in to a perfect tree and sit down to a turkey with you one day soon!
Keep on fighting, and know that right now with one leg you can stand as more of a rider than half of the people on this site, and I'm not afraid to admit, myself included!!!!!
Now, you need to get one of those suckers made in mossy oak!

Re: The Ryan S update
i hit 120 degrees of motion last week, with that i was able to sit on my bike.....but i still need about 10 degrees more at least to sit comfortably on my bike...i went from 103 to 120 in a week and now i have hit another wall it seems......but like i said, i work on it every day.
