Talking Miscellaneous Lafayette area WHORING!!

Here I’ll start it. This can be an area to post all of the miscellaneous junk that goes on in and around Lafayette. I.e.…riding times, who’ll be out, and all of the other junk that doesn’t fit into the Lafayette area pictures thread, or Erik’s thread.

Re: Miscellaneous Lafayette area WHORING!!

A little bit of a weekend update.

The Quote for the weekend is going to have to be, “The wind shouldn’t be as bad on the highway.” Talking about I65 last night in the 40 mph winds with guests up wards of 65mph. Thanks Youngkin! It was however a good full body workout.

The tie-dye Busa is officially a street fighter, pending the verdict on what is knocking in the engine. And, I officially cannot ride a wheelie to save my a$$, soon as its running strong again, it looks like I have my work cut out for me.

Re: Miscellaneous Lafayette area WHORING!!

I have a warning to all Lafayette area riders. Be on the lookout for Jim’s Garage wreakers. On Saturday night when we were out and four of us got separated form the pack, for whatever reasons, we were heading down 9th street, by the golf course (country club I think), when I went around a jeep, and two wreakers. One of the wreakers decided to swerve into the other lane to attempt to either block me from passing, or blatantly run me off the road. When I slowed to see what his problem was, he accelerated and headed towards me, causing me to have to accelerate to avoid impact. When I pulled off in to someone yard, and got off the bike, however, he would not stop to talk it over , or get his a$$ beat by 4 pissed off bikers, which ever might have happened. This all happened when I had a passenger, which makes it even worse. So, watch out, this guy obviously has something against bikes, or it may just be me, who knows, either way, keep an eye out.
This has been a rant, but I just had to get it off my chest, its been eating at me all weekend, and I did see him today, when I was in my truck. He wanted nothing to do with me then. Funny how attitudes change when size of vehicles change huh.

Surprisingly no mullet, clean cut and had all of his teeth, at least the visible ones when he was laughing as he tried to run us over. I figure he was either just jellos because he isn’t competent engulf to ride a bike, or someone with a bike was banging his girl, because she prefers a guy with a bike. Either way I guess the dick-less wonder just doesn’t like guys on bikes.

Re: Miscellaneous Lafayette area WHORING!!

An up date on the tie-dye Busa; it appears that the knocking coming from the engine may be a rod bearing, should know more tomorrow. So, Mike may be onto something about the AMS oil, because with the exception of being hit by a car and a couple of impacts with the ground, the bike hadn’t been beat very hard at all. I mean, it only saw one wheel a few times, and never for very long, so oil starvation shouldn’t be the problem, and it was serviced regularly, actually the oil was changed on average of every 2000 miles, not 3000 miles. So be leery of using the full synthetic oils in bikes that have higher mileage before switching to synthetic.

I know that sound.......my old cruiser had that "ticking" sound a few hundred miles before the original motor froze. Least on your busa the whole bike weighs less than what my old engine did

Yah, I’ve heard that sound before too. On a couple of SV650 that used to prowl the streets of Lafayette, that have sense ceased to exist. And ironically my bike has the same piston diameter, and stroke as a SV650, just twice as many pistons. They are not 100% cretin that is the problem yet, they are going to strain the oil either tonight or tomorrow to see what comes out, then go from there. I was thinking, that on the positive side, a big bore kit will replace most of the bad parts if that is the problem, and it probably wont cost that much more than having the shop fix the existing engine problems with stock parts. Plus it would be easer to wheelie a 200 hp street fighter.

Mine wasn’t on the limiter very many times, and I only know of one time that it spent any time on the limiter…standup…Phoenix…fire…engulf said. And I don’t think it has been on the limiter at all in the last 3000miles. And on second thought, it had the AMS oil in it for about 7000miles, so that shouldn’t be it. Only thing I could think is that the car jarred something loose.

....standup....Phoenix....hmmm....dunno when that....oh, yes ....now I remember. As far as the AMSOIL goes, that shouldn't be it. Many of you know that I'm a dealer, but I havn't been pushing it do to my own problems (rough/grabby clutch). I've solved that problem now! After getting back from Stuntwars, I decided that there was NO WAY I could work the clutch for anything slower than 5mph, or circles. So, I tore into the clutch, separated all the fibers and plates, cleaned them and soaked them in amsoil (I think the old oil was not all the way out of the fibers) so now, NO MORE grabby clutch to date. The problem with higher mileage engines is that amsoil has such a high detergent(to run 6k on a change) that is pulls all the junk that your engine has been depositing, often causing it to suddenly build up where it shouldn't. I bought my '01 1000 with 10,000 miles on it. I added a detergent to whatever oil was in it and immediately drained it once the fan kicked on. Now, the fan rarely kicks on because synthetics run so much cooler. And with 10,000 hard stunting miles (only 2 oil changes) on it from last year, I can back that oil up.

Yah, after posting that I reposted, I think, saying that due to the mileage after the swap that that shouldn’t be it. And I am not taking it back out of the new bike; it went in early so I don’t antisipate any problem. As a mater of fact I didn’t notice any of the slipping clutch that I had when I swapped it in the 02.

Re: Miscellaneous Lafayette area WHORING!!

So, they went panning for gold at phoenix today in my bikes oil pan, and then called me to inform me that they hit the mother load. Verdict, somewhere in the lower half of my engine, from the sounds of it, the rod area, I have eaten a bearing. But, on the positive side, Busas are expensive to work on…wait, that’s not positive, but anyways I guess it’s time to become intimate with the internal workings of her power plant.

Ouch......well it's a really good way to learn about your bike. It's kinda fun at times, as long as things work out ok
