CHERRY pop tart

Ok, so that Erik doesn’t blow a gasket for me bastardizing his thread, I’ll start a new one.

So, for the record, I wasn’t making fun of your “pop tart”…err…I mean bike, I was merely amused by the fact that someone that had seen me working on it said something along the lines of it looked like a taster pastry with pink icing and sprinkles.

And maybe you should start worring now,...

…ok maybe not. Its fine.

Yah, they are pretty much done, I still have to do some buffing on one, but give me a call tomorrow afternoon, and I’ll get them to you. I don’t have to work this weekend, so I’ll be around all day tomorrow.

And by all means buy the pop tarts at Sams Club, they’re cheaper when you buy them in bulk, and it sounds like you’ll be putting on some winter weight, just riding the bike, and snacking on pop tarts.

So the other day while walking through Walmart, I decided I was going to check out this whole Cherry Poptart thing.....

....lo and behold.... my bike REALLY does look exactly like a tasty toaster treat.

I posted this here so as not to jack someone else’s thread.

I’m confident that there is enough to paint a city bus pink and then the truck, and possibly a lamp or something; however, I have no place big enough to paint a truck. You’ll also need a lot of white paint and clear coat, as all that is left is the additive, to turn the clear pink, and I would guess that since there is about a gallon of clear on your bike, a truck would take a lot of clear to turn it pink. The clear is the part that costs the most, well a little more than the base coat paint, but you use way more clear than paint.

So, I guess what I’m saying, is that if you supply the garage, we’ll need about, I’m not sure here, but I would guess that somewhere around a gallon, or two of white paint, equal parts reducer, and between 4 and 6 gallons of clear, possibly more, and a few other miscellaneous items, and we’ll be more than happy to break out the sunglasses, and start on the deluxe pop-tart. Can you get the personalized tag “POPTRT”, and we’ll make some fuzzy pop-tart mirror hanging things, sort of like fuzzy die. And maybe get the chrome window tint, so it looks like part of the wrapper left on it.

The only problem is.. I don't want the pink flake on the truck.. which means it will look like a defective poptart But I do like the chrome window idea.. it's all still up in the air right now.. just wanted to run it by you

I was being serious on not having a place to paint it. I would need someplace out of the elements to do this. And if you haven’t bought said 1500 yet, save yourself some money, and buy a white one, the base coat will already be there, if it is in good shape.

Actually the thought of fixing my old 1500 (which happens to be white) has been running through my mind.. it's currently in Alabama so I'm trying to figure out if it'd be worth it

Re: CHERRY pop tart

From the pictures, and what I know about the Silverado, it would be cheaper to buy a brand new one than to fix that one. It would appear that that one needs a new cab, new bed, new drivers side door, left front fender has some damage, and if it has the newer style frame, it is probably bent. Just to have the bed side on mine straightened was a little over $1,000, and the right front fender, hood, front clip, and frame, and straightened right side doors was over $14,000, then add the cab, and subtract the front clip, and I am guessing if you have it done right, so it might drive right, all said and done it would probably cost about $16,000 to $18,000 to fix that truck, with junkyard parts, and doing it yourself maybe, $10,000, and neither of those options will guarantee that it will be right, or like new, and depending on the year and mileage you could get a newer one for between $5,000 and $15,000 for used, and a brand spanking new one would cost between $18,000 and $26,000, with a warrantee and everything. Heck, you could get a 2001 EX-Cab 4WD, V8, AT, with most of the trimmings for about $15,000, or less if it has the mileage that mine has.

Personally, I typically won’t let a vehicle go due to age or damage, case in point my ’02 Busa with over $17,000 in damages not including the engine, however, I believe I would let that truck go, lay it to rest, part it out, or just give it proper burial. Mine had less visible damage than that, and the only thing that kept it from being scraped by my insurance was that it was only 6months old when it happened, and they were obligated by contract to purchase me a new one just like it, so they were willing to sink the roughly $16,000 into it over a period of about 3 months for the dear, and the getting hit.
