hello everyone,
sorry its been so long since anyone has heard from me, i got back from camp muleskinner, on sat. i cleaned weapons that evening and went to bed. woke up on sunday and went outside to smoke, outside my bunker, which is about 300 ft from assasins gate, which is where at 0800 a car full of c4 was detonated, killing 2 american soldiers, and 15 iraqi workers trying to get to work on the camp that morning. 40 some-odd are wounded. all of the glass in the internet cafe shattered, and our recreational communications where knocked out. (all comms are either radio or sattelite....) so today was the first day i have been able to communicate with anyone back home since i left camp muleskinner. things are going okay we have had alot of mortar attacks recently, and a lot of sporatic gunfire, but otherwise things are fine. no more rockets latley, which is a good thing.
on a lighter note, i will be sending home film, and letters, as soon as i can get my way to biap (bahgdahd international airport, the place where all mail is sent out of iraq) mail is slow here, last month, a c-5 full of mail was shot down 20 ft above the runway at biap trying to land, so now mail is trucked out of iraq. the food is okay, it was better in kuiwait, but i honestly cant expect a whole lot from thease people. but the cool thing is that i get burritos, not like moms, but there not bad, arabs think a burrito is a wrap, and they serve "wraps" full of chicken or beef or both, sourcream onions tomatos, cheese, you get the point. and i can buy pace picante sauce in the px here, but the funny thing is i cant buy shampoo.. or eye protection, or a watch. the blast on sunday knocked me down, and my watch just stopped for some strange reason its all jacked up. i have a great nco support channel. all my NCOs are great. the guys in my section are all good people. so im do
ing okay. iraq is ugly, one big giant landfill/sewer. so dont worry about me im doing fine.
what i do need is mailing addresses to anyone that is important, just email me a list.
thanks.. i need to go to the motor pool, and bust out tires.
take care,
love jason

man I have nothing but respect for all the soldiers over there, they have been asked to put their lives on the line so that all of us can sleep safer.

Re: Sharing a letter from my bro in Iraq
It's nice to read the real deal, this reminds me of the letters I use to read from my Grandpa when he was in the war WWII ect. It's letters like this that really make you think. He is out there doing his thing for everyone...while we are sitting back chillin, drinking, fu(kin and posting on Stunt Life while he is getting knocked to the groud from C4 and we say its rough....what a joke.
I hope you get your best friend home safe with you so he can tell you all the stories of what he has been though. I am sure he is wanting to come home and be with his family and friends.
Give him my regards, I wish nothing but safty and peace for him!!
