Once the filter is loose, I use my hand to spin it off. Once or twice I've been going too fast and don't realize I'm at the end of the threads.

i'll have to look at the angle of the plug on my truck. if it's aimed straight down then that would be a concern. if it's at an angle, i'll worry about that less.

there is a clip you can put on to prevent that from happening but i spoke to someone who has it and he said it's impossible for anything to lift that little lever and turn it. he knows better than me, since he has one.

Question: If you could live forever, would you and why?

Answer: "I would not live forever, because we should not live forever, because if we were supposed to live forever, then we would live forever, but we cannot live forever, which is why I would not live forever,"

--Miss Alabama in the
1994 Miss USA contest.

Re: more new models OMR SUBCAGES !!!

what a ******* morning

i changed my water pump the other day, and today on the highway it overheated. pulled over in a mcdonalds parking lot to check it out, and theres coolant all over the engine bay. we called a cab to get becky to work, i stayed there to wait for it to cool down. once it was cooled, tried adding some water, and it poured right out, from the water pump.
So i grab my toolbox and start taking it apart. Once io got the pulley off, i found that all 5 bolts were all the way loose, and the belt was pretty much the only thing holding the water pump in place. I know for a fact i used the correct torque when i put them in last time, I remember thinking that it was too much for bolts that small. Now I know - when you put a steel bolt into aluminum, use the frickin loctite. I just made it home and its cooling off now. in an hour or so im gonna pull those bolts out one at a time and use the blue **** on them. unfortunately it just started to rain

i'd be relieved that it's not a broken part that i have to buy.

mike it probably wasnt the fact you didnt use locktite it was more likely the gaskets fault , a good idea when ever you replace any thing that deals with a gasket on a car is to go back and retorque once or twice after heat cycles ..

as a matter of fact never sieze would be a better idea than locktite when dealing with aluminum ..

different metals tend to create alot of corrosion and that can damage the threads so can locktite ..

i already have through years and years of experience if you mix a steel bolt with an aluminum engine block and mix in some coolant that isnt changed often enough you will get a white powdery substance that plays hell on aluminum threads ..

yep, steel bolts in aluminum clipon tubes suck, starts to rust and the bolt either breaks or takes the threads out with it. same with motor mounts on my f4i.
