The way you are checking it can just read the surface charge and may show 12 volts but u must loadtest the battery to check it properly.
Just saying because you could send it to somebody and it still might be bad, wanting to save you and somebody else from a potential hassle
When a battery is fresh it should read about 13 volts.

When you charge a mc battery it should be 2-3 amps max...no more or it will ruin the battery.
To check it without a proper load tester,you can charge it up then put it under load by hooking it up to somthin for a bit and drawing power from it...this will kill the surface charge then read it with your meter again, if it just barely reads 12 volts....like 12.1 or somthing then its probably at the end of its life but if it still reads a high 12 or 13 volts then its fine.

 

i have a battery tender that i'll put on it right now. i'll load test it tomorrow.
