04-05 GSXR Steel subframe 350.00????????????

Steel Innovations is offering me a discount on Steel subcages so i am sending the price straight to you. Steel Innovations (Not sick and yeah it sounds close...but thats marketing) Is a very new company and has been in the metal industry for years, but is now gearing more towards stunt and stunt products.

Adrenaline Boyz are their first sponsor so lets show these guys we mean business. As of now they only make this subframe for the 04-05 gsxr 600, 750,1000. Their eye to detail is awesome, and everything bolted up like a dream. However some small modifications will have to be made, as in any steel subframe. Their next bikes will be the 636, f4i,600rr...so stay tuned. I have a lot of pics so check them out....I took pics as I installed it...it took about 30 minutes to install. I also took pics of the steel one next to my stock one.

Shoot me a PM if you are intested in buying one. Serious Buyers only please.

Re: 04-05 GSXR Steel subframe 350.00????????????

looks good, but seems like it should have a couple of cross braces (side to side) to keep it from kicking to the side with a 12 or round bar attached. Also the weakest point looks like where it attaches to the bike frame...maybe add a piece of tubing between the two mounts - I think that if you did hit a bar on the ground, it may bend the washers that the bolts are holding to the frame. I'm not knocking it at all, just trying to give input for improvement having had a lot of experience with this model bike and subframe reinforcements.

my thoughts also. doesnt look strong enough. needs more braces and better mounting points. thicker ones

Re: 04-05 GSXR Steel subframe 350.00????????????

you dont want it to strong cus then your just going to crack where it mounts to your frame though....

I love my scrape works, although I barly tap the round bar when it does touch as much as I can I try not to hit it

Re: 04-05 GSXR Steel subframe 350.00????????????

Haters haters.(I was waiting on you)...you are confusing this with a garage made piece....mounts are not round bar with washers welded on..they are c&c machined bushings that have half inch thick of metal....this subframe will handle anything you can throw at it. it was compared to the stock one and other brands of steel subframes when being made. All welds are Tig for high penetration... No way it will bend or break ever! Unless it was hit by a mack truck! we have been testing one for the last 4 months, and it has been hit hard several times with no problems (A former team member)...Steel innovations IS NOT GOING TO TEST PRODUCTS OUT ON THE PUBLIC. they only sell tested proven products.

No worries

Re: 04-05 GSXR Steel subframe 350.00????????????

I was not hating and if I still rocked that model bike, I would surely buy one of these over a stock replacement. The price is great. If the mounts are thick bushings, then that area should be fine. Stock subs are only cross braced by the thin aluminum rear seat bracket mount, the cast rear piece and the tank mount. This steel version adds a steel rear cross, still uses the alum seat brace, and seems to not utilize the tank mount as a cross brace. It will prob work well anyways because it is steel. I just suggest a steel cross under the seat latch (instead of tabs) and as xtra overkill, it could have something across near the tank mount tabs.

You should suggest to them to make a bolt on option to tie the subframe to the rearset mounts too to help to keep the subrame mounts from breaking.

Re: 04-05 GSXR Steel subframe 350.00????????????

My only worry of a steel subframe is then your weak point becomes the frame where the subframe bolts up.

Out of curiosity though, why didnt they throw a cross bar or 2 in there? Is it really that strong that it doesnt need it?

Re: 04-05 GSXR Steel subframe 350.00????????????

I was just saying that it would be that much stronger and easy to do to make the tabs go all the way across like the one in the post above ^ or even both places like this:

Re: 04-05 GSXR Steel subframe 350.00????????????

it needs some sort of cross bracing or it will twist like hell if you dont hit flat on it or if your bike rolls and hits just one corner. that stock cross brace is always the first to break because it isnt enough.

i would say the same after all the testing with scrapeworks and also wish they stuck with it.the price does look good !take the advice and cross brace that! thats all u need and longer bolts for the frame mounts with lock tight nuts on each one and ur all set.after that then it had to be a bad crash if it breaks!

I told them what you said and they will loook into it it. Steel innovations is making theirs out of a thicker wall tubing and therefore does not need all the extra reinforcements....and weight. But if it will get them more sales, I am sure they will be all over it! Looks like a simple change anyways.

They look good, compton has a point with saying it need something else to brace it to so it doesn't break the tabs in the frame. I already have the SON DOBY sub-frame reinforcement it works good. I like the bar it has running to the rear set to prevent the tabs from breaking.
