so this Wouldn't fit a 03-R1 right?

It should fit. I looked at the microfiche for the '03 R1 and since it uses the "teardrop" shape fitting for the brake fluid reservoir, it will work.

If a bike uses the round fitting, as with kawi's and some other very new bikes, it will not work.
