Serious problem!!

This is not motorcycle related. I have a Chevy S-10 Extreme that I let a friend borrow. He put 87 octane gas in it and now it runs like ****!! The service engine light won't turn off and it idles funny. It also has difficulty getting up hills. I always put 92 octane in it because that's what it said in the manual. Do I have to just wait and let the cheap gas run thru. I was thinking maybe put some octane booster and that might help. I don't know much about cars so any info would help. Anybody have a solution?

Re: Serious problem!!

I have a solution....don't let people drive your truck, especially if they're too cheap to buy premium.

Re: Serious problem!!

just run it till its out of gas.. then put premium see what happens..
if still nothing. run it till teh premium runs out put some injector cleaner fill up premium again.. if same problem. then you gotta tear **** up

Re: Serious problem!!

I used to always run 87 in my xtreme, and never had any problems. That was before the LT1 swap.

Re: Serious problem!!

The truck wouldn't run that bad and have the SES light come on because of the octane.....thats definitely not the problem. Do you have any mods done to the truck at all?
