idle questions on '01 F4I

ok, yesterday was my first time uping my idle trying to figure out how to just totally let go of the throttle and work on no handers..... but i was having some difficulty with this.... my gearing is 7 up and 1 down and i ended up setting my idle at like 4,000 rpm and i didnt really feel it taking the throttle from me so much.... and hints and tips would be appreciated....

thanks,
bobble

You should be good with 4500-5000... I am pretty sure thats what my freind does em at... My other freind with an R6 +28 idles at 3500... Might be useful info???

P.S. I don't rock the no-handers... So I could be mistaken... lol

I need the idle a bit higher for no-handers than even one-handers. I have a 03 GSXR750 with 1 dn 18 up and I do no-handers at 5500rpm or so.

Anywhere between 3500-4500 should be plenty.

The reason it's not "taking the throttle away form you" is you're not going slow enough.

Re: idle questions on '01 F4I

Once you become nice and smooth in a twelve you can keep your hand on the throttle but give it no gas. Eventually you will see the bike will go by itself on the idle with the right brake pressure being applied when needed. At that point you can completly let go of the throttle or grab you upper fairing somewhere. It's a weird feeling at first just like everything else, but after a few attempts it just comes natural.

Re: idle questions on '01 F4I

Not sure how the F4i's idle works, but on the 600rr you have to take the idle adjustment ****/cable/bolt and move it to the idle adjustment screw where the throttle cables open the butterfly (like suzukis and others). the current location on those bikes must be replaced with a long bolt to run correctly.
