Need Advise working on 94 CBR F2
I have 30,000 on it and the chain tentioner is chattering. I planed on just changing the gears, tentioner and timing chain. When I remove the chain and gears do I have to worry about timing at all. Of course the bike has a CDI so does it just reset the timing on its own?
Thanks,
Tim

since were on the subject of F2's and chain tensioners.
Alot of the time after riding a wheelie when i set it down (usually higher RPMS) my cam chain chatters like you wouldnt believe in the lower RPM's this goes away after about 10 seconds. But is this not normal??? i know they chatter but damn.

From what I am told when the F@ gets up in miles you need to replace the timing chain tentioner. Yours is probably wore out too. I know mine is chattering like crazy.

my f2 has 43k on it. I put an APE on it, & it never rattled again. Its a super easy install (only takes 2 bolts and some time to adjust it).
My advice is to:
#1, buy a manual if your planning on ripping into the motor. You can get f2-f4i manuals on CD from ebay for $5.
#2 Just put an APE CCT in and see if it fixes your problem.
Are you talking about valve timing or ignition timing?
Im not 100% sure about the f2, but electronic ignition is usually controlled by a crankshaft position sensor. So you shouldn't have to worry about ignition timing. As for valve timing its the position of the crank in relation to the position of the camshaft. If your removing the crank/cam gears you'll have to make sure the valves are closed when cyl. #1 is at TDC. This is a very general answer, if you need more information, refer to advice #1.
