GSXR question

Anybody have problems out of a gixxer when you take the ram air tubes off? Mine wouldn't start unless I was givin it a little gas and then as soon as you let off it would quit. I'm gonna try turnin the idle up just a little to see if that fixes it. Just curious if anyone else has had this problem too.

Re: GSRX question

Depending on what model it is, either carbs or injected? I have a 99 600, carbs and i ahve a similar problem with mine but its only because its running a little rich, so turning the idle up on it will not help me at all. All i can suggest is that u put some wire/mesh cover's over your intake to stop getting big hunks of crap in there for starters. Bump your idle up and see if it helps. If its still missing then your bike is running rich, u will have to adjust this first. The other thing i noticed was after i laid my bike down i had a leak in the exhaust which also accounted for part of the problem. Good luck with it, hope u sort it out. GMB

Re: GSRX question

Back to the point. Your idle should be the only thing. Fuel injected GSXR's don't need any gas to start like carbs do. When you start it dead cold you can bump up your fast idle just till it gets warmed up. It's probably a case of your idle being too low if it won't stay at idle at all. No problems here with mine, it's been a great couple of bikes.
