fluid in stater cover

I have a 99ZX6r. i wrecked it preaty bad a couple of months ago. When i pulled the stater cover off to replace it there was oil (im assuming) in it. Is this normal. I have a few friends that say its not. There is a metal gasket that goes between it and the case so i would assume that it was to seel it up so that liquid didnt get out. Well the bike is all back together now and seems to be runnin fine ( with the ecception of a little leaking oil from that point). Let me know what you all think.
Thanks

Re: fluid in stater cover

a new gasket is 32 bucks at your local dealer. Get that and some gasket sealer or some of the liquid gasket stuff and use that as well. Should do the trick just fine.
