Looking for the BP in all the wrong places

well i can hit my BP almost everytime i try but for the life of me i can not and i mean CAN NOT keep it there i know i NEED to learn brake control but once i get it up i never can react fast enough to play with the brake i start from almost a dead stop clutch it up in 1st and i can ride it till the end of first gear (which is 44 mph) but i want to be able to hold it up at like 20-30ish how do i program my self to get on the brake????? thanks

Re: Looking for the BP in all the wrong places

You're nowhere near the balance point if you clutch it from a dead stop and put it down at 44mph.

yea usually you are nowhere near how high you feel like you are. try to bump the idle up that helps sometimes when learning

Re: Looking for the BP in all the wrong places

you dont need any brake at all for fast wheelies. engine braking in first is good enuff, i kno a buddy of mien who got his tail section a good 6 inches from the ground on the hw in 3rd jsut with engine braking. you only need the brake for slow wheelies where there si no enginebrakeing. get higher when u get a weightless feeling that is bp

youre not at bp. you think you are at 9-10 but you are really at 7-8. get some vid and i bet you get to bp in ten min. if you are still accelerating then you arent high enough

if you were at balance point you wouldnt be accelerating to 44mph from clutching it up at a deadstop.. when you hit bp your rpms will drop, and you will stay at the same speed with out picking up any speed... youll know when your at balance point.. trust me..

Re: Looking for the BP in all the wrong places

Im in the same boat as this guy, and noone helps lol i know exactly what hes talkin about, i hit BP all the time just cant keep it there. is it a matter of using the rear break and the clutch to hold it in one spot?? cause ive had it held, but then had to give it more rpms cause it drops alittle and it progresses from there.

Re: Looking for the BP in all the wrong places

um and i the only one who does standups in 1,2,3 watever and not using the rear brake. i see alot of threads about jsut regular standups not slow ones and people are asking if they shud use the rear brake the slow there wheelies down. i jsut dont get it. i think its easier to slwo it down with the throttle or just get to bp and keep in basically constant

Re: Looking for the BP in all the wrong places

The slower you approach the bp, the more comfortable you will be there and therefore, the more control you will have with it. Just my

you mis understood me..lol i have have brake controle im doin 12's no handers, coasters, etc. i jsut dont see the point in usin the brake when u have engine braking. i mean in ur car do u use the e-brake along with the regualr ones to slow u down ?

That is totally different. You can't compare driving a car to doing a wheelie and using the brake for control. They have nothing in common......
