Re: 12 bars

depends on the bike you ride. if you're lookin' to make one, the two most common methods are mounting it your subframe under the seat which might require some cutting, or to your passenger foot peg mounts (not as strong). you're gonna have to measure yourself, especially if you ride antiques. that's a nice twist tho...don't know anyone stuntin' an antique.

Re: 12 bars

good luck, i have been askin about things like this too.

im building my own cage and 12 bar, but no one seems to want to help out.

not sure why, maybe "we dont have enough posts"
best advice would be, try to find someone in your town that has a 12 bar and see how everything is put together
good luck

Re: 12 bars

a 12 bar should be even with the back tire, it should not stick out past this point, to get the right angle mount the bar coming off the subframe first then use a straight object(yard stick) and go off of your wear line on your tire that is your angle. your going to have to scrape it a while to get it nice and flat. I would make it about 10 inches wide....

Re: 12 bars

first off. I would never mount my bar to my rear footpeg mounts. I think thats the most rediculous thing i've ever heard. Who does that? curious..

there are a number of places you can buy from:
www.905racing.com
www.freestyleingenuity.com
www.powersbikeworx.com

i'm sure you can get measurements from them.
Always mount to your subframe. the less screw wholes you have the better. Generally people do 2 on each side.

cut two pieces of metal for both sides. You can measure what you think is generally a good length. It helps a lot when you can work off someone that already has one. When I did mine I actually picked my bike up at 12, to get the idea of where the bike will be at 12 o'clock position. A lot of people weld an actual round bar for their scrape bars. So then when they scrape the round bar, it resolves a flat surface, which is your perfect measurement for your bike at 12. And it is perfect flat measured surface to weld your bar on.

hope it helps! :YEAH

Re: 12 bars

peeps,

Thanx for all the info, I did manage to make one out of 14 guage, 1" square tubing, I have not welded on the final plate yet, I still have to work the courage up to bring the ol' girl up to scraping point..

What is the heigth of the ground to the center of your 12 bar?

Mine is exactly 30" tall, and 16" wide, ill post some pics soon, so you can see, my buddy told me that looks a bit too short...

Thanx again...

the height, also depends on your bike. to make your axles vertical when scraping, theoretically, make a line straight up from the rear-most point of your rear tire, and another line along your subframe extending backwards and mount the plate vertically where they intersect. extend the bar out until you reach an angle that is suitable for your bike's dimensions. most bars set the axles not quite vertical. measure from the ground to where you'll mount your plate and bada bing , there's your height. make sure to angle the plate to where it's horizontal when scraping.

Heres a pic of my bar, I think its 13" wide, the material is 2 1/2'' in width. Its bolted to the sub and right where the sub ends, take a torch and heat up the bars that come back to the bar and bend them outward, that makes your bike more stable on the bar...
