One foot on rear peg

I tried to wheelie with my left foot on the rear peg the other day(tues). After a few tries, it now feels like I've been doing it for years. I can't figure out what it is that makes it feel a lot easier. Can anyone out there put it in words for me?

Re: One foot on rear peg

yeah with a foot back it basically feels like your standing once it comes up vs sitting and then having to hang.

Re: One foot on rear peg

I do it always, I can't really do a good standup without the left leg on the rear peg. I think the reason is that when one foot is at front and the other is back you can balance the thing out better with your legs. You can shift the weight between the legs and control it better. If your legs are side by side it's harder. Also it's easier to get the front up that way... Pressure to the rear peg and clutch it.

Also it's easier then keeping the left knee on the saddle, If the knee is on the saddle, you cannot keep the bike between you legs.. I have little 'loose' feeling to the bike, if my knee is on the saddle..

Re: One foot on rear peg

i agree with the left leg back way,
i tried and tried to learn clutching and it always scared me.
one day i read about this left leg back method, i went out and tried it when i got home.... yeah it worked..

but with this method (as opposed to powering wheelies up, you NEED to have brake control, of this will happen:

i didnt have rear brake control down good enough and looped it.

good luck and pratice that rear breake..
