for 3-400$ i'd buy a z50r honda, but for 1200$ i wouldnt buy a new crf or xr 50... why? even tho they KICK *** and i want one, $1200 you can get some old 600 is the way i see it

i totally agree teh 50 will help you get the brake thing down cause that little thing pivots easily, but if you learn teh 50's BP, im no pro, but i doubt it will be anything liek a big street bike, im gonna stunt out my xr80 , a little bigegr than a 50 but oh well :YEAH

Re: Worth buying a 50?
really if you learn bp, 12's, brake control etc on a 50 you can transition, if nothing else, the rear control to the big bike and thats really the part most people who start out stunting big bikes have a problem with...plus, whenever you loop the 50 at 25 mph you won't feel as bad as whenever you loop you're big bike at 25.....

Re: Worth buying a 50?
either one will work, but trust me you're not too big for a 50...i'm about 275 and 6'1" and i'll rock a 50 any day of the week...
also: ttr's are cool as hell too.....just make sure you get the one with disc brakes

Re: Worth buying a 50?
we have two 50's , one with a scrape bar and they rock! you'll definetly learn rear brake control. It's just when you get on a big bike it's just so much more torquier(if that's a word) than a 50. You'll just have to accomodate for that power and not panic and forget the rear brake. Quads are awesome for throttle/brake control also. We have a 400ex and switched out the thumb throttle for a twist one just to get a similar feel. And they're alot bigger and heavier, of course, than the 50's. Just my

I say get on a friends quad, left foot in the back bar, right foot on the brake and do some brake work behind bp, and that will show you the basics of what you need to be doing on your bike. A quad doesnt help you on side to side balance really, since you have two wheels but thats ok because it will allow you to stay on wheelies longer so you get in more time workin the brake. I personally wouldnt buy a 50...

Re: Worth buying a 50?
50s will not teach you how to clutch up wheelies. unless u put a clutch on it
learning to clutch up is key i recommend another xr model with a clutch or a yamaha ttr 125, if you just want to help for big bikes
but 50s are pure and they should be respected and you should only buy it knowing it will be its own artform, independant from its extremely distant cousin the superbike.
i could go on and on telling you why to get a 50 because i love them and if i was bill gates every ghetto boy and girl would be given one.
but to keep it real i say gear up and practice on that bike you got and get a fiddy too

Anyways, Dude get a fiddy hook it up, and you might just give up big-bikes, I almost did. you don't get as many tickets on them for one, and you can ride them longer than the big bikes in cold weather. Get one, you wont regret it
i know my typing is bad, and i do love those little fiddy's, if i didnt have an xr80 sitting in my garage i would get one, :YEAH
edit: this guy supposedly has a 600 and a 1000. have you thought of investing in a crash cage at least? its just a thought... godo luck
