f3 setup

im setting up an f3 for nothing but stunting. im building my own crash cage and probably my own 12 bar, but i was wondering what i should do gearing-wise. im going to leave it stock for a bit, but once i get to the point where im riding bp wheelies for a bit, i want to gear it down a lot and learn slow stuff. what would be the most/least i should gear it?

any other advice for setting it up would be awesome
also, should i look around for a relocated oil pickup?
and also, what all do you recomend for a steering dampener? cheaper would be preferred.

Go up on the back +14, never go down on the front makes your bike more torqy and it will also eat up your chain. If you Run all your gear in the rear you will have a smoother power delivery due to leverage (etc). Oil pickups, i dont know much about on the hondas, but on all suzukis its a good idea. Checkout www.stuntex.com , there supposed to get some pickups made for hondas. Later...

Re: f3 setup

thanks tons man... do you have a place you recomend getting sprockets from? ive heard of sprocket specialists. also, what sort of chain should i run?

and now i know this is a dumb question, especially since ive been riding bikes for over 6 years now, but when someone says, they did the 530 or 520 chain conversion, is that just the width of the chain? and should i be concerned with changing to that or not? i know ill need a new chain with a +14, but if i can use my stock front sprocket, then it would be easier switching from stock to +14 gearing.

also, is +14 ideal, or should i go even bigger since the bike is going to be strictly for stunting, it wont be on the streets at all.

thanks again

I always deal with Phil at www.moto-heaven.com. Most all chains are good. Call him up and do a 525 conversion kit. When i did mine the type of chain he sent me was an EK SuperSport Quadra X Ring Chain. Give him a call 814-563-7292 He will tell you what he is selling now. Chain sizes like 525 and 530 are basically the same size its just the bigger number has more mass, they get a hair wider and longer but hard to tell a difference. +14 is plenty.

If you have the money, DID X ring VM series. If you dont have the money, save your allowance instead of buying an inferior product.

Re: f3 setup

525 is stock chain size. Its a good strong chain for stunting. I bought a did x ring for $90 from kneedraggers.com I went -1 +7 and use it to ride the streets still. It has plenty of power to get up in first and second. Some say that -1 in front is bad but it depends on what size your front sprocket it is. 14 tooth in front is an ok bend. Some bikes have a 14 tooth stock. Plus many many people go down 1 in front with no problems i just wouldn't go more than that. fyi stock gearing is 15/43

Re: f3 setup

im -1/+3 on mine, its perfect for highway wheelies, and slow ****... i can get it up from a dead stop in 2nd.. i could scrape it in 2nd, but havent yet.. the only thing is tryin to bring up highchairs and other tank **** in 2nd.. but i think its an all around good gearing, i might go up another 2 in the rear...
