anyone one out there rockin a zx7

ive got a 98 zx7 and the thing is just so f-ing heavy. i can get it up in first by powering it but its useless in 2nd trying to clutch it. ive tryed clutching it almost off rev limiter. i guess there is the option of gearing. i guess im just pissed off at the bike.i want a new bike but cant aford it right now. i also need to get some more practice in. i saw a pic of a guy scrapin a sissy bar on a harly.i wish i remebered where i saw it id post it. i def dont got the worst bike but i was wondering if anyone else was stunting a zx7 ?

Re: anyone one out there rockin a zx7

i know there is someone who stunts a zx7, but i gave up doing wheelies on mine.

I got the only upgrade for it that would help

a gsxr1000.

Re: anyone one out there rockin a zx7

i got a 99 zx7r. yeah man, its a heavy bitch. i got some info on wheelieing it from someone on this site, i gotta try to find his name. he has a site with a writeup all about stunting a 7R. ill try to find it. in the mean time, just think of it as a good challenge, thats how im lookin at it. anyone can stunt a 400 pound lightweight, but its really something when u see a 500+ pounder up on one. just think how good you'll be once u get a bike that wheelie easily

Re: anyone one out there rockin a zx7

im still tryin to decide on what gearing i wanna go with. my buddy is lookin at a 99 7R with -1 +3 and i tryed it out for him. i cant really feel much of a difference. i agree that 17 is a bit much for daily drivin, since he said he tops out at about 120. im still doin some research but def goin -1 and a 520. just not sure yet about the rear, maybe the middle like +6 or 7. but i have no idea.

Re: anyone one out there rockin a zx7

i droped one in the front first is really nice now but u still gotta bounce a little it took like 20 off top end. i recommend doing that it was like $13 and with our set up i didnt have to take fairings or anything off to get to it. id say go from there. it still doesnt even wanna try in 2nd but

Re: anyone one out there rockin a zx7

yeah, the one i tried out was hard to ride, cuz it sat so long that the tires were really flat, so it was squirmy. i think i might go today and price out a new chain and front sprocket. can i go with a 520 with the stock rear gear? or do i need to change it?

Re: anyone one out there rockin a zx7

i dont know much about 520's but if u go 520 ull have to get both front and rear 520 sprockets. how many miles do u have on your chain? im cheap i didnt want to buy a new chain. im thinking about going bigger on the back so i can rock some 2nd gear stuff. my neighbor gave me a old 2 stoke im thinking about trying to mess around with bp something a little cheaper if i drop.

Re: anyone one out there rockin a zx7

LISTEN DUDE,

Trust me when i tell you this, it's not the bike ok. My Best friend runs a 98 ZX-7R and he wastes me with wheelies. He has a kerker slip on can, and gears -1 +3 and he can get his up in second with the clutch and a little pull on the bars. The ZX-7 gets a bad wrap sometimes because of the weight thing but the bike rocks. I WOULD SERIOUSLY ADVISE YOU TO STAY WITH THAT RIDE AT LEAST FOR A WHILE. See I know there are a lot of really good stunters in here and some of em are good enough that it doesn't matter anymore what they are riding but from my experiance switching bikes will probably hurt your progress a lot more,, That's what I did, I used to have a Buell and was always cryin about it "it's too heavy" and "it's not powerful enough" so I traded it for a 954 and guess what 2 years later and my wheelies are just starting to come back. If I were you I would keep it for a while even if you get a new bike keep that one as a second bike.

Also, if you need further inspiration watch J.T. Holt in Full Leather Jacket, because that dude seems to do just fine with a ZX-7R

Re: anyone one out there rockin a zx7

yeah, im definately thinking about keepin mine, its pretty minty, and its only got 6k on it.i just priced out a new set of sprockets and a chain, a 525 i think. it all came to about $130. i was gonna go down 1 up 3. i really like my bike, its pretty comfy for my daily drivin, and i OWN it, no payments and i got it cheap. like 3400 with 4000miles on it. so i figure ill go with just learin my **** on that for a while, considering its my first bike and all, and that i've only been ridin for like 4 months. i was told that if i could get that thing up and doin it easy, that i could probably get anything up real easily. now im just waitin for my damn backordered sliders to come in.

Re: anyone one out there rockin a zx7

Don't know if he's still around but about 4 years ago when there were only a couple of us traveling around stunting, there was a Dude from Orlando named Jermain Holt (sp) who rocked a zx7r. He put out a video called "full leather jacket" Those bikes suck for stunting but he rode the hell out of it. Look him up.

Re: anyone one out there rockin a zx7

Eventually that bike will hold you back. Although it can be great to learn on. It's heavy, and will make you that much better in the long run. I wouldn't own one, but I do have a factory SERVICE manual if you want one that I'm trying to sell. I ordered it for my friend and he was killed 2 days before it came in the mail. Email me, this will help you out and save you lots of money when messing with it CROTCHROCKET17@AOL.COM
