yeah you can reach out and touch the front tire if you want.. not that far away... but you can see the tire if you lean over the front of your bike going down the road on two wheels. but yeah at BP i watch my tire stop spinning ... but concentrate on what is ahead makes it easier once you get long wheelies down

personally, i have never used the brake on a standup. in my experience u shut the throttle, u come down. my friend watched me almost flip (tail less than a foot from the ground) i shut the throttle, slammed down, but dint crash. but i suppose u should cover it as a last resort.

then u havent come THAT close to looping... youll go so far back sometimes, that chopping the thrttle will do nothing, thats when u need the rear brake.. trust me, i did that the other nite, i went way past bp at about 55, chopped the thrrottle, and just coasted, missed the brake, and looped it.. now i have a cast on each hand, can barely sit down, and have to limp everywhere... wont be riding for a while.... ill have pics of my busted up self posted later tonight, and pics of my bike up tomorrow

i dont follow, engine braking does exactly the same thing as the rear brake, slows the rear wheel. but i suppose if u were low enuf in the rpm there would not be enuf engine braking

You'll know if you've gone *past* BP if you crash.

Re: how do I know when I'm at BP

Everytime I feel like Im going past the BP my first responce is letting off the throttle, by then my front tire is slamming back down before I would even have a chance to step on the brake. Engine braking works best for me.
