F3 gearing question?
I ordered my sprockets and chain from kneedraggers.com last night. Awesome price $189.00 for d.i.d. x-ring and sprockets shipped. But I'm starting to wonder if I got abit carried away in back. I went -1 +7. I live in a pretty small town so I don't see much highway use. I used a gearing calculator and it said I should still see 140 mph at the top but I'm wondering how crusing on the highway will be. Anyone got gearing close to this? How it workin for ya?

Re: F3 gearing question?
Someone one cbrworld.net was saying with -1 +5 on their bike their top speed was 135. I used a gearing calculator and it said mine would be 140 but now i'm starting to wonder? Kneedraggers.com said that it would be atleast three days till the order shipped because they had to wait for the sprocket from sprocket specialist.... think i should call and have them change it to like +3 or +5 instead of +7? I'm kinda worried that this much gearing is gonna make second to much like first meaning basically i'll just be loosing first and be in higher gears all the time without the torque i was looking for anyways....

Re: F3 gearing question?
I have -1+5 on my 97 F3 and I cruise at about 7-8k. Not sure how fast I'm going but I'm still passing cars, so I'm guessing about 75-85 mph. Top speed I'm guessing is about 135-140, but my speedo(which is wrong) says 155mph. I also just got back from riding mine from Dallas down to South Padre(about 500 miles one way) and it wasn't that bad. If you hardly get on the highway I'd say stick with the +7, but keep your stock sprockets and chain in case you wanna go a long distance. My anyway.

P.S. I wouldn't even worry about the 1st gear issue. I don't ever not use 1st gear. its not like it becomes this uncontrollable monster or that it tops out so fast it becomes pointless. Although I can start out from a dead stop in 2nd gear(and sometimes 3rd), I always use 1st.

Re: F3 gearing question?
Good point about keeping the old sprockets and chain. Here in Nebraska we don't really have highways to get around town and I don't go town to town very often. If I do its a 30 minute drive at the most. I'm gonna stick with the +7 if it really bothers me then i can go back to stock but I think it will be ok, Thanks for the info.

Re: F3 gearing question?
i have + 14 on the rear and my **** still goes faster than what i wanna ride, you should have gotten more, since you ordered all new stuff you should have gotten all your gear in the rear like just stock tooth front and +10 rear, to me your bike is more torqy when u go down on the front, it also beats up your chain guides , and your chain too, just 1 down on the front gives the chain a bad angle to go around. always keep the front at stock teeth......
