Pulling in clutch with 1 finger?
I have a 1999 gsxr 750 and im trying to clutch first gear up. All of my buddies on their hondas can pull the clutch in with 1 finger. However when I try it on my gsxr hell no that ***** not happening. I asked them to try it out on mine and they couldnt do it either. Is there something wrong with my bike? Should you be able to pull in the clutch with just 1 finger on all bikes?

Re: Pulling in clutch with 1 finger?
some bikes have stiffer cluch springs. Aftermarket springs are always stiffer. You could try lubing the cable to see if that is giving it a little resistance. Otherwise, move your hand a little to the left (outside of the grip) you'll get more leverage on that bitch then. lol

I had the same problem with my f3 until I lubed the cable, now it's all good I bought one of those cable lubing devices from my local shop, worked like a charm. If that doesn't work, switch out either the cable or the springs. L8r

Re: Pulling in clutch with 1 finger?
you can get a cable luber for 17.95$ at a local bike shop. much cheaper than a 30$ clutch cable and it works over and over again.
most of the time that's the problem with stiff clutches, the cable is all gummed up. i clean and lube mine about every other week on my mx bikes and my stunter. I wouldnt' change the clutch springs. leave them the way they are.
and also, who says you have to use 1 finger? i use 2 mostly.

Buy one of these. I love mine and it is two finger compliant..... I got mine from a local shop for $32. Best 32 bux I ever spent on my bike.

Re: Pulling in clutch with 1 finger?
get a cable luber, and try to lube your clutch cable. and when your clutching move your finger alittle to the outside of the lever, it's alittle easier. other than that just keep it up your hands will get stronger.

Re: Pulling in clutch with 1 finger?
I have an 03 GSXR 600 and i clutch up sit down wheelies with two fingers, but stand ups i only use one. When standing you get a better angle on it and it is much easier to pull in. I had the same trouble when i started messing with one finger clutching. Also you guys that are hitting your fingers. You don't really need to pull the clutch in that far. You just need to slip it a little bit.

Re: Pulling in clutch with 1 finger?
Worked on using 1 finger clutch for a while until I finally got it > tips:
1. GSXR clutch is usually harder than honda/yamaha so expect that.
2. Changing cable or whatever might not loosen the clutch, compare yours with another bike (same as yours).
3. Try using different fingers (I use my middle because it works for me).
4. Buy a "hand spring exerciser" (whatever it's called) and work out that finger, in no time it will strengthen enough.
5. Make sure the lever is at a comfortable setting for your hand.
Aiight.....
