how big do i need to go on my sprocket???

i've got a 929, am i'm learning slow 12's on the stock gears. i'm having a problem smoothing out the gas at the top of my wheelie. it's like i'm to slow in the gear to get a smooth responce. i need to go up, i think, but i don't know how big? my buddy has a 20 up on his 750, and he love's it. should i go up that far? please help me with this F@#king nightmare.

A bigger sprocket will make the bike more twitchy. Just practice bein smoother with the throttle. Learn slow 12's with stock or near stock gearing then change later.
