Bike decisions
I have a 1999 gsxr 750 thats pretty pimped out. Full pipe/ k&N filter/ steel lines... Anyways Im outside oiling my chain and this guy down the street comes by on a nice 2002 954 RR. We get to talking and he asks me if we would want to trade bikes straight across plus me giving him cash. He said his bike is too powerfull for him. His bike has a lot of mods. Full pip/pc/rear sets/steer damper. If you were in my place would you take the trade? I thought my bike and his were close in HP...But maybe im wrong. My bike has 15k easy miles and his has 6k.

Allrighty,,, I have a 954 and I must say, (in my opinion) it is the best machine I have ever ridden and I have been on quite a few, at the very least all the competitors of the 954. So is it worth it ,yess as long as the bike is in real good shape, you want to check the transmisson out for sure just take it to redline in first and second, ask that dude if he's ever clutchless shifted,,(do it sneaky like it's a conversation) check the fork seals (duh) and the useual. The 954 doesn't have a trans problem but I screwed my tranny up by doin the clutchless thing so it's worth an inquary. However, I did shift a lot about 10,000 miles worth of doing it about once a ride
The 954 is awesome, I love it but ride it first cause I know a few people that don't like the way it rides. You will loooove the brakes, and it's control. You will prolly need a steering damper.
A bad mark is this, It became very hard for me to stunt when I went to a liter bike, some people don't have that problem but I know I did. Sometimes, more power can be a rude wake up call for your throttle hand. Of course I came from a totally different animal (Buell) So the power differance was HUGE but from a 750 I think you'll learn it in a matter of weeks.
I know I would but then again I already own one.
