Re: polishing

this thing says to use 60 grit thats to rough start with 180g on the cast , and 400g on the other parts, and heres a tip go to the store, I like biglots, get heavy duty oven cleaner, spray it on the frame and subframe before you sand anything let it sit till it turns black then wipe of with sos pad. the start sanding this alows you to start with a less coarse paper witch will give you a better shine, and takes less work, and stop with 2500 grit not 2000g it will be blinging.check out my pics i polish bikes, or check out www.havehomes.com/jaredsparts.htm to see some of my work. let me know if you need any help.

start with 60 grit , 80,120,180,240,320,400all dry on a da or orbial sander matco and snapon have three in. das work good on tight spots then water sand like no other 500,600,800,1000,1500,2000. 3M has 3000 grit sandpaper it the **** but at fifty bucks a box it aint cheap but it blings.

http://www.stillie.gixxer.com/about.html
im using this site to polish my gixxer frame, and it looks badass, screw all the sand paper, get an angle grinder and go to a metal finish place and buy the buffs, its a lot easier and quicker than sand paper, mine looks great and it isnt hard to keep the luster, use Mothers mag and alluminum polish, its real good

Haha, nwice! I did mine by hand and it was a pain in the a$$. It's a lot easier using a DA or some other power sanding tool. Stuff's hard to keep clean, but all in tha name of BLING BLING right?

Re: polishing

why waste time by sanding????

strip the bike down, buy a few cans of easy off oven cleaner.spray it on the frame,or desired polishing spots.wait 45 mins, spray again, use a wire brush to help get the anodized clear stuff off the frame. If its not ALL THE WAY OFF,you cant polish it.Buy a red wheel from a local truck stop, and a red polishing clay bar.use an angle grinder.Variable speed if you can.Use a lot of the red bar,You'll lauph at how fast it polishes right up,It'll take nicks, scatches, anything outta the frame or whatever.just be carefull on welds, because its so powerfull it'll take the welds down...I did my whole bike in about a week, swingarm too.....hope this helps....pm me with any questions

f*cking with 60-80-120 will tripple your sanding time and its hard to get the scratches out from that.. dont use it unless you have some really ROUGH castings... wetsand 220 a decent place to start
