Reason for tooth change.

01 GSXR 750
1 down 10 up

What is the general purpose of dropping teeth in the front and raising in the rear? I know it gives it a whole lot more torque to ride them slower with higher rpms. What i really want to know is does it make the rpm range easier for no handers and other real technical tricks. I am currently 1 down 3 up but i just got my sprocket today to put me 10 up. I can park it on my bar and have killed it a few times slowing down to far on the rpms. What should I be expecting when i go out other than a whole lot more torque?

Re: Reason for tooth change.

Main difference aside from giving it more low end torque and letting wheelies come up much easier, is that it will ride slower in a given gear. For example my friends 600 with stock gearing would ride at about 22mph in first at 3000 RPM where as with being -1+7 its now at around 10. It just lets you hold a slower wheelie without the engine bogging out and dieing like you found out.
