Best Way to Wheelie a TL1000S
I know it should be easy, but I'm new at this, just bought the bike, and don't want to wipe it
I had an R6 that I sold, never thought I'd get another bike. But yeah, I want to learn to wheelie this thing bigtime, anyone have any tips for me? The bike as plenty of low end torque, I just want to know what your techniques are.
Thanks in advance

since it has lots of torque, get in 1st, pretty low RPM's, clutch it. It WILL come right up. If 1st scares you, do it in second, but with higher RPM's. Practice Practice Practice!

I had a 97 TL-S and it was a wheelie-happy ****. I only had a +2 rear and it would power wheelie in 3rd if you hit it just right.
The big V-Twin has tons of engine braking, so you can bring it up nice and high and not have to worry much about the rear brake. Just keep your weight back and off your wrists and crack the throttle at about 5k. This is one bike that you don't really need to clutch.
Ride the bike, don't let the bike ride you!

Yep, even with standard gearing(sky high) all is needed with 1st gear is roll 4000rpm, then just open it up, and not even WOT. There is a lot of engine brake, so the trick is to not shut it down when/if you get scared, because it's coming down fast and you gonna bust your ***** to the tank. You can pull some fast idle on, so even if you let the throttle off completely the engine braking is not so massive.
With second gear you can pull it up from 50-60mph, just WOT it and little pull on the bars. No need to clutch. Little easier if you stand on the rear peg(just left leg, right on the brake). Also helps to stand chest against the wind.
the problem with slower stuff is sky high gearing and if you just bring it up with throttle the speed is going to build up anyway. I sometimes use clutch if the space is limited, less speed and less throttle, so it's more controlable. The EFI/throttle is supersensitive, so you have to learn to live with it.
