2nd gear whellie on 900RR
I got my 900rr 4 months ago and I have perfected 1st gear wheellies. I cant get the tire up for the life of me in 2nd. It's got stock gearing but I know I have the power. What am I doing wrong?

I bet your clutching and bunny hopping, not only do you need to stay on the gas once the clutch re-engages.. but you need to give more gas to get it up.
I couldnt understand why I couldnt lift until someone told me that.

You NEED to go 1 down (front) 2 up (rear).
It will totally transform the bike and make 2nd gear clutch wheelies a breeze. You'll sacrafice some top end, but it is definetly worth it.

Re: 2nd gear whellie on 900RR
I went 2 up in the rear on my 96 900RR, stage 2 jet kit, new X-ring chain, valve adjustment and a new air box(Dyno tuned too!) and she RIPS now! I was having problems with my 2nd gear wheelies too...... Not anymore!!!! Now when I clutch my 2nd gears up the tire wants to burn out even when its warm. So i had to air down a little bit in the rear to get it to hook up a little bit better. If you have your 1st gears down and you can ride the balance point for longer than 10ft, leave your toe under the shift lever when you bring it up in 1st and right before you hit the balance point........Let off really quick, and pop it into 2nd! It took me about an hour to get it down when i was learning. Once you get it down you can go 3rd, 4th ect! Once you can get it into 2nd and find the balance point you can stand up to get the feel of a perfect balance point stand-up! Just my

Re: 2nd gear whellie on 900RR
I have a 99 900rr all stock except for 15T Front and 44T Rear set up. I didn't have any prob clutchin it up with stock which is 16/43 and have no trouble now. The biggest hump to get over is knowing the bike inside and out. It took my a long time to finally do wheelies in 2nd and it was just a matter of time to get used to it. You will find that you'll like second gear more than 1st due to the fact it won't be so easy to loop it as it is in 1st. I pretty much used 2nd for all wheelies now even if I just starting out at like 20-25 mph. I have another set up I'm going to so it will be even more easy, but I have to get another chain first. Just take your time, have fun, and the wheelies will come :YEAH
rock out with **** out :YEAH
