fork seals
i've posted on other boards but people never really seem to give a good answer, i figure if anywhere, this would be the place to know,
what's it take to replace fork seals? i'm very surprised but mine haven't gone yet, my girlfriends bike has a busted one though, that i need to replace, but i've haven't ever had to replace one before, i have the service manual for her bike, is it pretty much just taking the fork apart, putting the new ones on, and putting it back, or is there a way to do it without having to take the fork completely apart?

Re: fork seals
i just did mine on the 900rr.
1- need a stand that raises the entire front up, forks have to be removed
2- air tools are a must, you prob. will not get the bolt out of the bottom unless you have an air ratchet or impact gun.
3- if your gonna do one, do both, its not that hard if you have the right tools
4- the bolt that holds the shock piston in, you can only see once you have the fork off. there is a brass crush washer that goes on it, replace it too, its like 75 cents.
5- if you cant get the bolt out of the bottom, dont worry, just use the "zap method with the air ratchet, they can be a pain.
its really not that hard, and only took me about 1 &1/2 hours and it was my first time doing it.just get a shop service manual if you dont have one already, there isnt many parts in a fork tube so its actually real easy.the more i work on these sport bikes the more i realize how easy they are. if you cant get a lift or rack to get the front end up, wrap a ratchet tie around the garage rafter and under the steering stem and ratchet that bitch up.
