Rode a Mongoose at a local track on the BMX course, always for fun on practice days, never in competition. The time spent off the jumps was often on one wheel, front or rear but mostly rear.
Never, and I mean NEVER had I heard the term catwalk until I was about 28-29.
Weird...

Funny, when I lived in Modesto California I was about 4 years old and we referred to wheelies as just bringing the wheel up, and catwalks as pedaling the wheelie to hold it up.
It actually makes sense because then you can decypher just popping the wheel up and actually holding it there for a period of time.

I've been familiar with the term catwalk since the early 70's, if you could do a catwalk you where real cool back then, to us a catwalk is when someone can wheelie a motorcycle between 10 'oclock and 12 'o clock and ride it for city blocks at a time.
Here's another older stunt term > ' bunny hop' < a bunny hop is what you younger guys now call a stoppie...man how times have changed,
now where's my TZ750....

a mechanic I knew years back used to own one, I mentioned TZ750 because this mechanic who had one was nic named Cat because he could Catwalk a bike for long distances, the TZ 750 back then was doing an honest 180mph on the back straights wicked bike from the Kenny Roberts days.....
