Should you dent your gastank in?

Should you dent your gastank in?
Does it make a HUGE difference when you dent your gas tank in? I haven't done it yet because I've been able to pull the tank wheelie without havin to put that nice pretty dent in my gas tank, but if it makes a huge difference, you gotta do what you gotta do. If so what's the best way to do it without making the bike look like **** on stick.
Thanks
