Need help wheeling a 85 ZX900
I'm new in the stunting sport but I've been riding for about 30 years and road racing for 15 years. On my NSR (track bike)and my CBR 954, I just roll the throttle and the front wheel comes up. But on my daily ridden bike (a 1985 ZX900 A1. also known as the "TOP GUN" bike of the 80's) Roll ons do not work. What do I need to do to get this thing to pull a wheelie? I've read as many 1st time wheelie post as I could, but most of the bikes are the lighter newer bikes. What RPM should I be at before I dump the clutch? Do I need to sit further back? Need help!
Thanks,

Re: Need help wheeling a 85 ZX900
This bike can wheelie!...gonna take some effort though. For starters just try rolling around 20-25 mph in 1st gear and clutching it up. Your gonna have to figure out how much gas to give it as your engaging the clutch (I'm sure it will need a big handful) but in the beginning just take baby steps with the throttle...Try a little more each time you clutch it. Sit towards the back of the bike. Lean forward then back tugging on the bars slightly to get some weight transfer going too. If this doesn't work you could try bouncing it up while standing...or a combination of bouncing and clutching together.... I'm sure it's possible. Be careful man! get comfortable with clutching up little bitty wheelies first and remember to cover the rear brake.
