Question vertical R1's?

I'm wondering why no one stunts a R1? I herd that they got a oil problem when u stand them up. I got a 02 R1 thats more show than stunt but it's hard to resist doing wheely's. i dont want to blow my bike up so any help would be appreciated. thanks

Re: vertical R1's?

i think hardly anyone stunts the r1 cause i dont think it can take a beating like the other bikes........aint the frame made outta aluminum???i picked up a R1 frame before and it was like a feather compared to my gsxr's. but ive seen people stunt the hell outta their r1's

Re: vertical R1's?

one downfall to r1's is that you can not unbolt the subframe if you bend it up it is welded on.

Re: vertical R1's?

02 and up have a removable sub frame. I do know how weak the frame is on these bikes cause this is my second. the pic is of my 03. It got totled cuz the frame gave way to the slider. Mostly i'm just wondering about oil starving the motor. Maybe you just have to worry about that when your doing 12's.

Cool Re: vertical R1's?

This motor is bulletproof, don't worry about it.A friend of mine rides an r1 with full exhaust, cams, ported head and stuff and has 32000 miles on and never had a problem no matter how bad he tread it.It's a 98 r1 and still gives gixxer's and busa's a hard time.

Re: vertical R1's?

My buddy recently traded his 02 R1 for the 04 R1. He loved his 02 R1 and that thing will wheelie like no tomorrow with the right skillz. He did have a problem with the crank and we know of about 5 or 6 other bikes both 02 R1's and 02 R6's that had the same problem with the cranks when doing long *** wheelies. He told me that after he spoke with a Yamaha specialist they were claiming it was a defect from the factory not because of the wheelie itself, some of the cranks were not manufactured correctly causing the crank to wear very very badly with very low miles. He still has the old crank and maybe some time I'll get a picture of it and post it up. I'm a honda fan myself but if someone were to give me a R1 or 6 I wouldn't turn it down.
