wheeling a 03' gixxer 600
this was my first year back on a bike since i wrecked in 01', i started the season on a 03' katana 600 that bike was tough to get the front wheel up but i learned how to get it to the bp using the clutch and in november i bought an 03'gixxed (bone stock)i was able to power it up in 1st but that did'nt feel natural and with the big power differance i'm not sure where to start with this any suggestions.

well, if you could get to a bp on a katana you should have no problem on the gixxer. clutch the same way, just use less throttle. practice, youll get it. oh and use 2nd gear if your gonna clutch. unless your doing slow stuff.

i'm gonna have to call bs on the bp of a katana also. the BP of a katana is past 12 oclock. i have tried and tried on a buddies to get to the balance point but the engine is so far out of balance that you have to be OVER 12 oclock. If you can bp on a katana its alot easier on the gixxer just gonna be lower.

in response to bs on the bp true the bp is outrageously high but i only got there once it was up to around 40mph but shortly there after the front would drop back down(no more rpms left and i cant shift on one wheel) but if i could shift with one wheel up i could tell you forsure if i was at the bp. so maybe i should have said i was pretty sure i was able to to the bp.

I have the 03 gixxer, and I was able to wheelie well in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd sitting down. I clutched it in 1st, could roll that out, then shift to 2nd...etc. once I geared it 1 down in the front, its much easier. I havn't tried it yet, but I bet I can clutch in 3rd too...or even bounce it 3rd now.
put the bike in 2nd, hit about 40 mph, wack the clutch, keep your hand steady, it will come up about a foot and then want to drop back down, dont chop the gas, just stay in it, then then the bike will start coming back up, then just play with the gas till you find bp. its up there a ways on a gixxer too though, so be easy with it

Just bounce it in 2nd, it will come right up. I do it on the wifey's 03 600 all the time. It is bone stock except for being lowered cause she is short. Hit about 7 or 8000 rpm in second, roll off the gas for a split second and wack it as you stand up. At first you won't hit it hard enough and it will only come up a foot or so and if you hold on you will be doing a 100 before you know it. You have to wack it pretty hard to get it near enough to bp that you aren't hauling ***. Get a 750...you don't even really have to bounce. Its NICE, VERY NICE!! Good Luck

throw it in second go about 30-40 mph bounce it with your legs and clutch it at the same time ****'ll come right up once yo get the hang of it
if you get a bigger rear sprocket (which i suggest on a 600)it'll be easir to pop up and you can go slower b4 you pop it up thus riding farther on the rear wheel. with the sprocket say around 50 tooth, you can use 2nd for stunts and **** and 3rd and even 4th for fast and highway wheelies

everyone should use the clutch
if you dont then you waste wheelies.usin power to bring it up is usin the power that u could be usin to ride the wheelie. ya follow me?
get used to clutchin wheelies you'll need it later on for different tricks.

It all comes down to time and effort. You will answer your own questions as you spend time practicing. The more you try it, the more you will learn about your bike, the more comfortable you will get, the smoother your throttle control becomes, and the next thing you know....you are a pimp on one wheel. It's all about how bad do you want to be a pimp!!!

you must run outta rpm real quick bouncing at 8500. i clutch up at about 4-5 k when i get it up thats where im at or slightly higher rpms. high rpm makes wheelies hard because the rear tire will get wobbly for some reason and it's much more twitchy
