tire spinning when clutching

I've been trying to clutch my bike up since i dont like the feel of powering it up. The problem is that every time i try to clutch it one of two things happens, either the rear tire spins or i just jerk forword but the front stays down. Does anybody know what i'm doing wrong or does my tire just suck or what. My bike is an 01 zx7r all stock with one tooth down up front. Also, with this bike should i be in first or second, in second sit down or stand-up, second with both bounce and clutch...please lemme know what you think...thanks

1. tire sux

2. not enough clutch / gas when lurking forward

3. too much clutch / gas when blowing the tire off

drop the rear tire psi to 20-25, pull up more with the bike, and sit back a little in the seat, you must become one with the bike

I got the very same problem dude... to the point where I don't feel comfortable with clutching.... what's weird is that it will actually come up sometimes, but it isn't consistant... I just can't get comfortable with the way clutch wheelies feel because it isn't consistant.. power wheelies on the other hand come up nice and easy everytime... I think is my bike or something...

First off i know my tire isnt helping much but i have seen my bike clutched up very easily and that was b4 i dropped a tooth on my front sprocket. So i think i need to let my clutch out more slowly but i'm just not sure how slow to let it out. I'm going to do some more practicing today and i'll let you know how it goes. Thanks for the help guys.

letting the clutch out slower wont help, I literally pop the clutch, snap it hard

when you clutch your bike up, use two fingers to pull the clutch in, and the rest to hang on,

move along at 30 mph in second gear.
Pull the clutch in and rev the motor to get a feel for it,

Then rev the motor again and let the clutch go, its all in the timing between the gas being at a higher RPM's, i would say if you traveling at 30MPH and the rpms are between 4 and 5 grand, then you want to rev the motor up to 8 or 9 before popping the clutch. It just takes practice, and learn this sitting down before standups.

hope this helps more

Well, i went out and tried it this afternoon. It came up a little but not more than like an inch or two. The problem is that it just seems to jerk very hard when i clutch. All the people i've seen clutch it up seem to have it come up smooth and it sounds smooth also. When i do it, it doesnt seem smooth at all!! Do you have any ideas on how to make it smoother?? Are you pulling the clutch all the way to the handle bar or just a little to slip it or what?? thanks

I dont pull the clutch all the way to the handle bar because my other three fingers are in the way, I just pull it in to where it touches my fingers, I cant really think of anything else,

I guess make sure your clutch isnt burned out and slipping at all, and if you practice and practice and it still doesnt improve then i would gear the bike either up in the back or down in the front, or both.

jesse

woops sorry this is miltown again, damn cookies

practice allot, and make sure you let the clutch out as you give it power not after you give it gas.
