Hangin off the side

I was just wondering how you guys learned to hang off the side. Just seems like it would be a hard thing to try the first time and also when you are on the ground and you are burning out in circles around you...how did you guys learn this (not like i'm going to try it anytime soon)

skitching off the side is easy, probably one of the easiest things to do. it's kinda an optical illusion because all your weight is on the gas tank, barely any on the feet.

Yeah these are fairly easy. In the space of 2 hours I tried my first one, 2 hours later I was passing ppl down the freeway skitch'n.
(not bragg'n, just proving that it's easy)
First thing, get some cheap boots, because they don't last long.

O.k, First I tried it from standstill just to get a feeling for it.
I only do it on the left side of the bike, right side feels weird.
Have your right arm and chest on the tank, put weight on the tank with your chest and use your arm as a clamp. I press my right calf on the left peg(sercurity). I have both legs side by side with a small gap. Remember don't weight your legs, they just skim the road, hold yourself on the bike with your arm and chest.
Select first, off you go. play around with the throttle and brakes untill your comfortable with being off the side of your bike.

Then try it while moving,(30/40kms i think around 25mph).
Ride like normal, side saddle the bike, right foot on left peg, clamp tank with your arm, put your left foot down then right foot. SMILE!!! your skitch'n!
To get back on its the same as getting off, just in reverse.

Hope this helps, if you got any other Q's about skitch'n jut give me a shout. All the best.

Yea skiing is easy, I did got it down my first time too. I could only do it on the right side and it felt weird on the left.. Now I can do it on both sides. It also helps to put some metal plates on the bottom of your boots, that way 1. you won't wear out your shoes, 2. the metal sides well on the ground and won't catch and snagg like rubber will. and 3. it makes some cool sparks.

I wouldn't do it in first gear or even second for that matter, too twitchy and a lil dangerous for my blood.

Yes first is twitchy but its better to go slow the first time, just to get used to your feet sliding along the road. Once you get use to it, add more speed. The plates are a good idea too!
Just my two cents.

Instead of getting back on the bike side saddle, I think it is a lot easier to just apply pressure to your toes. Let your legs fly back, like superman, and kick yourself over the bike. Sounds hard, but it is really easy. Plus it looks a whole lot cooler.

Once you learn that you don't even need to get back on the bike. Just nail the front brake and do and endo. Impress all of your friends.

When I first started doing it, I put my foot back on the peg and climbed over and was wondering how they just jumped back on their bikes, until I did it. I don't even need to kick off the ground uness I get really low, I just use my stomac and back muscles to hop back on. Soon I'll be hopping over to the otherside. Hopfully successfully lol.
