Question for experienced stunters
I am just curious regarding how you actually learned to do wheelies.
Riders who have tons of experience stunting always make it look so easy, like you were born doing it.
My questions for you guys are:
How long after you started riding did it take you to learn to wheelie? Were you always riding since you were really young (like some racers who begin riding dirt bikes at like 5)? From when you first attempted doing wheelies how long did it take you to do them well (weeks, months, years)? Did you start out clutching it or work up to that method? Did you wreck often when going through the learning process? Did you get hurt often? What kind of bike did you learn on? Did you start wheelieing on sportbikes or dirtbikes first? Were you paranoid about messing up your bike or did you learn on a beater/junk bike to play it safe?
I am far from a professional rider let alone stunt rider. But I would really like to know how some of you got there.
Thanks

I didn't start wheelying till I had my Busa. Before that I had a 600 Katana(19 yrs old)(wouldn't wheelie cause I was scared and it was weak), then I got a 92' Gixxer 1100(wouldn't wheelie because it was stretched 3"), then I got my Busa and it would power wheelie in 2nd and that's where it all started. Took me a summer before I started trying standups. Then I didn't want to tear up my Busa so I got a 97 SRAD 750 to start stunting and got a little better. Then I got my new 1000 (25yrs old) last july and that's when I started getting alot better and able to do more stuff because the power made everything so much easier. Now I'm 27 and don't know if I'll ever quit doing this because it's the first thing that I've ever loved to do.
