Re: mixture screw setting
the screw will only adjust idle-1/4 throttle, then the needle and jets take over from there
carbs are a lot of work, especially if its your first bike overhauling carbs..
Hell really to stay properly running they need a good thorough cleaning every 2-3 years, as well as synced every 1-3 years

Re: mixture screw setting
thanks... i got it figured out the other day.... it was running very lean... i had never seen plugs so white....so i started to research everything
checked and fixed any air leaks....i think a big part of it was the carb sync tubes under the carb boot, 1 had a cap on it and the others didn't...that tube is a small hole right on the head suckin in alot of air... so i took small tubing and sealed it off with a screw and ziptied it on there... works great i think...
well i found out someone put on a jet kit.... stock main jets are 135 on 1 & 4, and 138 on 2 & 3 carbs...... the bike has 138 on 1 & 4 and 140 on 2 & 3 carbs....so like a stage 1 jet kit ... the po turned out the mixture screw a half turn (to richin) from stock setting...i turned it out another half turn out.... checked the plug again and it didn't seem like it was running rich or lean... but the bike dont seem like it pulls as hard as it did....
