1992 gsx-r 750 i have a few questions

I have been working on a 1992 suzuki gsx-r 750 for the past year and i still havn't got it running. I bought it dead and since then i have replaced the following:
* Pulser coil
* ingintion wires
* coils
* plugs
* oil
* cdi
* Both case covers
As well as tons of other things
I'm in this bike around 2k and getting alittle upset...

I have brought the bike to three local dealers for them to look at the bike totaling over $400 between them all, They all suggested the CDI or harness, i replaced the CDI and i've looked over the harness and no result

I still can not get the bike to run......
It has a strong sounding start but doesn't start up...
Ive tried a had full of things to get it going and havn't had any results..
Any suggestions? I would appreciate any....

Thank you in advance.....

Tom

Re: 1992 gsx-r 750 i have a few questions

Hay i had the same problem with my GSXR750J (1988)
Sorry to say i never did get to the bottom of it!!!!!

I took the easy way round and ripped out all the loom and fitted a Bandit 600 MK1 loom now she runs sweet

Im gonna try run through a few things with ya

1992 should be a GSXR750N 749cc Slingshot (Last year of the oil cooled)

Basicly the same as my 750J but 1cc more (748cc - 749cc)

Does she turn over: Sure you said yes

Do you have a spark? : Im guessing no
What CDI are you running: It should be 32900-17D00 (think the label is silver & Blue)
The bike should run with any of the early oil cooled CDI's but the rev limiter will be diffrent
Should have 2 sockets a 4 pin and a 6 pin (the 6 only uses 3 or 4 of them)
Have you swaped the ignition barrel?? The socket should be a green 4 pin design
The later 6 pin design has a resistor in the base and with out that the CDI will not fire
Ignition rotor : is it a Denso 3 pin type or has some1 swaped it for a single pin Slabby type?
Side stand switch : Bypassed on mine
Clutch cut off switch : Bypassed on mine
Kill switch : modernised Mk1 Bandit complete switch gear
Slde stand diode : annoying little bastard

If you do have a spark
Check the cams IN & EXH casting marks and timing make sure they have not been fitted the wrong way round (have seen that 1 before)
I suspect that the head may be a shim type (then it really is 1 of the last oil cooled 750's)

Hope this helps

PS let me know how ya getting on

Re: 1992 gsx-r 750 i have a few questions

Quick question on bypassing the connections, I think i did it correctly but i just wonna make sure thats not one of the problems.
On my clutch cut off switch i put the male and female together and taped them back with the harness.
Was that the correct method?

Hay, Yea you basicly unplug the switch and connect the 2 end together OR
do it on the loom where the cables run up to the switch gear socket.

If your unsure undo what you did and test the engine again
