DOT 5 silicone brake fluid?

Is it good to use or no?

This is the stuff I have in my bike right now. I was told that I should just use regular Dot 4.

It has a Min. boiling point of 550 F

Doesn't absorb water, and doesn't harm paint.

Re: DOT 5 silicone brake fluid?

No good to use unless your system calls for DOT 5. It eats through your seals. Use Motul RBF 600. Has a 592 degree boiling point and is DOT 4

Not sure, you may have to pull everything apart and clean it and relplace the seals.

Re: DOT 5 silicone brake fluid?

I'd swap in dot 4 and purge the lines real good and try it out, if you have problems with the brakes dragging or not disengaging, then replace the seals.

Re: DOT 5 silicone brake fluid?

The dot 5 will eta all your seas out of your handbrake so you will prob have to get a rebilled kit for that handbrake sorry man that stuff is bad very bad you need the RBF motoil 600 or something like that Im to lazy to go look at the bottle. But thats what all the pros use.

Re: DOT 5 silicone brake fluid?

DOT 5 Silicon brake fluid sucks.
Get DOT 5.1, it has a higher boiling point and is mixable with DOT 4.
