more 'new cage' pics lol...

it's been a long time.. between not having cash, breaking my hand, and now working all the time, I haven't got ANYWHERE with my cage

Finally got one side pretty much done, just gotta clean it up and paint it..

Still got the other side to do..

I think it's gonna be strong as ****.. Probably overkill, but I have no doubts this will last for a long time to come.. And I only have $19 of steel in it, with free aluminum sliders, and free welding

edit: heres my other thread when I stared the cage lol...

YES way to long
The other side of my cage I finally got done (been working out of town ALL summer)

This time I used a friends pipe notcher.. Wow... in 30 minutes of using the notcher, I saved about 3-4 hours of grinding

Pics of my beater in the garage, bike is in for a major overhaul sometime soon lol... But the cage is STRONG AS ****

btw the cage sticks off my bike exactly as far as a SI cage. without the sliders. I copied their length so I know I wouldn't have mine TOO wide or too thin.
Is a little bit of a shin basher, but not really much worse then a SI. Works great for me

if I had a tubing notcher, I'd start producing cages and selling them

but I don't so the chances of me making another are slim to none haha

But if i ever get a good tubing notcher I'd love to make them full time for all types of bikes, but my current method takes a good 4-5 hours PER SIDE labor on building it, its a real kick in my ***

my friend just does it right on his cheap harbo frieght metal lathe.

I'm not really a machining expert, but I'd imagine just about any metal lathe. And since it's aluminum, it wont wear their cutting bits out, plus it cuts REAL fast... It literally took him like 15 minutes to cut mine out, and that was with us standing around bull shitting and doing it lol

Btw I checked his metal supply, and they didn't have any round aluminum thats the right size in stock He could order some in, but would need to order a few feet at least.. He'd prolly be down to produce some if he could get a few orders for a certain sized cage... The one's I got fit right into a tygershark cage
he runs something that looks about like this
http://www.gadgetbuilder.com/Rockwell/rockwell1.jpg

it's soo small it could only hold like a 2.5 foot long rod

he could make more, he just needs a few ppl to be interested before he wants to invest a lot of time.
It would be nice if we could find small ammounts of aluminum we'd need, but he has to order at least like 2-4 foot, and thats a lot of aluminum to make 1-3 sets of sliders lol
