coolant overflow hose leak. (Stuck thermostat?)

I have a 03 600rr and after the bike idols for a few min the temp rockets and coolant sprays out of the overflow hose. I had the radiator pressure tested and the cap tested and there were no leaks, I think it could be the thermostat sticking. Any suggestions?

Re: coolant overflow hose leak. (Stuck thermostat?)

Yeah the fan comes on at about 220f then the coolant sprays out at about that time. It comes out for about 5 seconds then dripps.

Re: coolant overflow hose leak. (Stuck thermostat?)

have you made sure your coolant is properly bled? Run the bike with the radiator cap OFF tell it gets to around 200f, then put the cap on

Re: coolant overflow hose leak. (Stuck thermostat?)

Does it do this every time you start it up and run it, or when you fill up the radiator until it is completely full?

Re: coolant overflow hose leak. (Stuck thermostat?)

Not when i 1st start it to warm up but after i ride awhile then stop and idle it then spits out the overflow after the temp rises

Re: coolant overflow hose leak. (Stuck thermostat?)

Hm, have you tried flushing it? it could be a blockage, or something built up in the cooling system if the temp rises quickly.

If all else fails because you have
-Completely purged the system
-have the proper mix
-flushed the system
-have the cooling system cooled
-fan is running

Worst I would have to say is that it could be the water pump, but only if the temp rises, and stays high.

Re: coolant overflow hose leak. (Stuck thermostat?)

coolant should come out of the radiator at 220 and go into the overflow bottle and then when the bike cools down it will get sucked back into the radiator ..

if the overflow bottle is over filled it will then leak out the over flow hose on the overflow bottle , there is a hot and cold full line on the bottle ..

no man it just leaks out!!!

lets clear this up mabe the hoses are backwards

the top is going to the radiator and the bottem is going to ground
