lower your tire pressure, make sure the rear is warm and you're on good pavement, clutch up.

if it still breaks loose.. get rid of the crappy tire you have and get a good one. i suggest rolling burnouts to get rid of crappy tires

ive seen Chauncey do a wheelie slower than walking speed and not scrape the tail. It takes a lot of practice. Throttle control and balance and brake modulation all have to bee perfect to creep without dragg'n your bar.

if you want to know how to do a slow wheelie you need to get that front tire at balance point as fast and slow as possible, practice with your bike cause everybike is different and practice rpm's when your clutchin it up to find out how fast you should be rollin at what rpm's to drop that clutch to get that wheel at b/p without loopin it bro, unfortunately the bottom line is you have to be willin to trash that bike if you want it bad enoughnot that you will but the thought needs to be in your head in order to push yourself just a little further, but slow progressive practice can avoid the out of pocket, hope that helped

If the tire is breaking loose then you are probably giving it too much gas or letting the clutch out to fast. You want to slip the clutch out and ride the clutch up when learing slow wheelies. I can rock them 3 to 5 mph..

I was trying to learn slow wheelies and got to where I could cruise them at 20 and then it would get squirly and I would end up speeding up to 30-35 and It was because my brake control sucked real bad. I got a fiddy on saturday and have pretty much not gone anywhere near the big bike since I got the fiddy other than going to the store a couple times. I have learned alot about brake control on the fiddy in only a couple days. If you can get a fiddy get one! they are great learning tools and they are fun even when you crash. I have about 5 minutes of crash clips between me and a friend sofar.
