I got my 929 a while ago just for stunt riding and I've been riding it on the street recently. It shifts fine for 10-20 miles but then it's really hard to shift gears. The foot lever physically won't move. If I rev it pretty high (10k rpm) then I can sometimes get it to shift gears.
I don't ride this bike very hard, cops wouldn't like it but I definately don't look like I'm practicing for a track day.

Is that a tranny problem?

tranny is gonedee man i know a great shop that will work on it for ya tho. cheap just did mine

Why does it shift fine for the first 20mins? I was actually thinking it should be something else... clutch? cable? idk

$2,500 Have you lost your damn mind? You can get a motor for less than a grand.

When the bike is stopped, try shifting through all the gears a few times, its worth a shot
Ive had bike that were kinda messed up and this did the trick more than once
