636 swing arm swap ( johny p )

Used the search button... found alot of good stuff... but.. never figured out if you used the 03/04 shock or did you use the 05/06

Ive got everything but the spacers... ( the right and left 05/06 )

Also when you put the swingarm into the frame... did you use the 03/04 swing arm axle or the 05/06???
also what about the spacers for the swing arm? ( connecting the swing arm to the frame )

Re: 636 swing arm swap ( johny p )

I used the whole rearend. Shock, wheel, rotor, caliper ect. I know for sure you have to at least use the shock because if you dont, the frame will smack the top of the 03 04 shock. The only trick is you have to get a new rear brake line made up because the stock 03-06 isnt long enough. I would try to get a braided line. Also you need to reuse the block spacer at the swingarm pivot. If I remember right I used the 05-06 axle.

If your using the 05/06 shock then I think you have to use this piece from the 03/04.

Nope, just got the swingarm and shock. I figured I might as well do it while the bike is apart.

Re: 636 swing arm swap ( johny p )

The one with the swingarm still attached got a massive crack in it. I haven't gotten to ride in a couple months. Just been slowy collecting parts so I can redo the whole bike. I'm almost there.

Do you know if the 04 wheel will work with 05/06 spacers?
Also, I don't think the 05/06 pivot bolt will work, at least the threaded part won't. I guess I need to use the 04 stuff.

Im told that it will work with the right spacers. Do a search at I cant remember what pivot bolt I used. I thought I used the 05-06 but I guess not.

Re: 636 swing arm swap ( johny p )

I'm trying to search some things on it now. I'm still unsure of what spacers to use thats connecting the swingarm to the frame. I think I need the 03/04 collar and cap, thats what it looks like when I look at the picture on bikebandit.com

This was my thread when I was trying to figure it out. http://www.kawiforums.com/showthread...rm+swap&page=2

I posted a link to the thread that gave detailed instructions so I could always go back to it but it got deleted. Maybe the site can help you out. It took me a while to sort through the seach results.
