Q on front SS lines

had a convo with a couple of my buddy's today talking about front ss brake lines.. came across a question, does it matter if you run 2 separate long lines too each caliper (one to each) with a dual bango bolt at the master...or do it how most stock bikes are and run one long to the right caliper then use a dual banjo bolt there then a short line over the fender to the left caliper......

does the 2 long give you any diff. feel?

does 2 long make it easier to bleed? then the stock method

just thought i'd bring it up

Re: Q on front SS lines

you can run 2 and i dont think your adding enough line to notice a difference in feel...I do think it would be harder to bleed though....

Re: Q on front SS lines

I only run stock set up, feels the best for stoppies. With ss line the brake gets to hard and I find it more prone to lock up. It's all in what you like and how you ride though

Re: Q on front SS lines

i def. like SS lines wayyyy more than stock....but then again, i don't really roll endos too far.

as far as having the long banjo bolt up top, i think it does make a difference. cause if it's stock, the pressure first has to push the first caliper's pistons in, then the other. vs. the aftermarket SS setup as to where they both get pushed in at the same time.

i just came up with that right now tho so i could be completely wrong.

apfire26 will become famous soon enough
Re: Q on front SS lines

I just ran em both from the master to the calipers. That was my only option due to the length of both brake lines.

im putting ss lines on right now and i tried to go from the master to both calipers and the double banjo bolt was too long and bottomed out before it was even close to being tight.

seems like a trick idea but i dont have any means of making that bolt shorter at home...

ill have to update my list of basics i keep in the back of my car to include bench grinder... lol

i got it all together and gravity bled, so ill leave it the way it is for a while...

i noticed that i had 3 crush washers on one caliper, like there were two next to each other, is this ok to do? ive only always put one, but i guess one must have been stuck to the bolt or something and i didnt see it. its not leaking yet... id really hate to take it all apart again, and if 2 crush washers next to each other is a no-no ill just do the dual line setup...
