Thats complete **** talk.....The lenght on both swingarms is differnt by like only 1/2", but you can make up for that with your wheel adjustment....Theres enough room to set it up with the exact same wheelbase, so nothing is differnt besides how it looks...

thanks
I was wondering why you had the 03/04 brake caliper bracket in there?

Are you missing some 05+ spacers? Cause you should be using the 05+ spacer on the left(cushdrive) and the 05+ spacer on the right with the 05+ caliper bracket....

Make sure your not using the 03/04 left side(cush drive) spacer with the 05 swingarm! If you do your chain will be out of alignment with your front sprocket.......

All the 03/04 spacers are made of steel, and the left side is a silver colour and the right side is a goldish/yellow colour....You can easily tell the differnce just by the weight and colour of them

All the 05/06 spacers are aluminum and anodized a Titanium colour...

Here is the 03/04 and 05/06 left side spacer, 05/06(Ti colour) is on the left and you can see it is 2-3mm shorter....So if you use the wrong one your chain will not be aligned properly with your front sprocket.....

So these are the 2 05/06 spacers you should be running, one on each side + the caliper bracket and thats it......For reference the cush left side spacer has a 21.5mm width, and the right side spacer has a 18mm width...

No you need 05/06 on both sides.....If you use that 03/04 on the left your chain/rear sprocket will be 2-3 mm off alignment with your front sprocket...

You only mix spacers between years when your running the 05/06 wheel on the old 03/04 swingarm, but because your using 05/06 wheel AND swingarm everything should be 05/06 for all spacers....You can use the 03/04 axle, thats cool because the only differnce is its longer....Best thing to do is get all 05/06 spacers, youll know thier 05/06 becasue they weight less then half as much and are that Ti colour....

Thats why its getting confusing! Theres a few differnt combinations you can run and Ive given info for all of them

Not sure about the zx10 as I havent had a good look at one yet, but I dont know if Id want to run that swingarm anyways. I powdercoated my freinds ZX10 and everything on it was like half the weight of the 636. The swingarm felt like it was made of paper....It also looked quite a bit longer

Heres a pic from when I coated tit.....03/04 636 swingarm on either end, 05/06 swinger on the left 05 ZX10 on the right...Looks close might work, but dont know how differnt the newer ones are...

It looks like the 07/08 636 ones would bolt right up like the 05/06

Re: 636 rear wheel swap

ok I did the 05/06 swingarm sawp on my 03/04

I think I used the wrong washer on the left side pivot bolt(the big one throught the frame) I couldn't fit the little bracket shaped kinda like the letter v with the little 6mm bolt with 10mm hex head.

the I realized that willie is probaly right about the 04 shock hitting.
So I just scored an 06 rear shock and lingage on e bay.

So when I get the shock and get the bike up in the air I'm gonna take off the swingarm and get some pics posted up of what i'm talking about.
I got all the 03/04 and 05/06 hardware just gotta figure out how that left side goes together.

I plan on using the 06 rear shock and linkage with dog bone arms but will use the 03/04 shock top mount like johnny says

leave the shifter side alone just swap out the seal and the nut on the brake side. and use the lower linkage for the 05-06 shock with the 05-06 shock. the dog bones are the same

Re: 636 rear wheel swap

I pulled a pic of the 05/06 setup. And circled the problem parts for me.

On the right side I removed the rubber seal that is circled. I replaced that with the 03/04 and slid in the threader sleeve for the axel bolt. That side is ok.
My problem is on the left side.

The washer on the end labled B with the arrow, I forget what I did but i think I did use that washer and put it in where it goes on the pic.

My problem was I couldn't fit the hold down clamp part# 11053. I couldn't get the swing arm to fit with it in there. But I noticed in your pics ***** you got it to fit. So something is wrong. I did get# 55020 chain guide ok just not the hold down clamp.

I gotta get the bike to my boys who has a beam I can hang it from the subframe and take it back off. I assembled the swingarm when I got my frame back from powder coating.

Re: 636 rear wheel swap

just tried again. No luck. The hold down clamp is hitting the frame not allowing me to line it up with the bolt hole

Re: 636 rear wheel swap

does the clamp go on the outside of plastic chain guide or inside. Don't know wich way the thing goes on its curved so it only goes one way.
I know I don't even need the thing but I want this to be perfect.

Re: 636 rear wheel swap

try tapping it in with a rubber mallet. it should go in you just might not have it lined up right or maybe try pulling the rubber out and putting it in as one piece
