HELP 2003 600rr

i just picked it up
and its having issues with the fuel gauge.. it shows it and everything.. but it doesnt show a stable reading.. its always going from top to bottom like a signal.. all the bars are flashing almost in a pattern. any idea as to what it can be?

and another thing do thees bikes tend to run hotter than others.. my 929 kept cool as ****, this one is always at around 200* Farenheit unless i'm in motion on the highway or going like 55.. i'm gona flush the coolant and dump some water wetter or engine ice in there. hopefully that will help.

any hints of solutions greatly appreciated.

Re: HELP 2003 600rr

Had the same deal with gauge flashing on my 03 & found a short in the wire to the fuel pump.In the lot the fan never cuts off but on the street its fine.just looked in the book for my 07 rr & says fuel gauge flashing means there's a prob with fuel system

Mine either shows full or empty - nothing in between. I dont remember how it flashes on the guage display but I'm gonna check it out.

Re: HELP 2003 600rr

Sounds like the crystal in the gauge could be bad or a loose conection somewhere.

Re: HELP 2003 600rr

My 06 definately runs hotter than all my other bikes......always like 219 while Idle and running idle tricks in the heat of summer it would easily get to 231 deg....but after i used the (engine ice) ...210 - 220 is my normal temps now rather than 220 - 235...

My fuel pump plum/float in the tank is broke and mine is always fluctuating due to that...
Fan kicks on at 211....

Re: HELP 2003 600rr

well this is what they are saying so far

"I had my entire fuel pump replace. The stealership said that is was a part inside the fuel pump and it couldn;t be bought separate. Luckly I got it done under warranty"

"Probably from the 12'oclocks your doing. Probably got something in the Fuel pump unit. You can try and clean it out and reinstall or get another one."
