juss got off the phone with brad from gearedsteelproducts.com

sounds like a pretty cool guy....any of you guys ever buy sprockets from 'em?

also, all their kits are 520....i remember seeing a few threads in the stunt section saying NOT to get a 520..

Re: chain pitch

I've got the 520 kit from Thrustcompany (Aluminium) and I haven't lubed it in a couple of thousand miles. However, it still looks new. Do the 520 its cheaper too.

Re: chain pitch

nothing really wrong with a 520, i prefer a 525, just because its wider, and i had a 520 chain snap, 1500 miles after i bought it.

Re: chain pitch

geared steel sprockets are made of steel. 520 aluminum wears out significantly faster and the standard 520 chains are weaker

They do make high tensile strength 520 chains at higher cost, and steel sprockets will last forever. Most front sprockets are steel.

generally, the only difference is strength and weight(which I'm sure is why geared uses 520 since steel is so much heavier)
