Too big of a sprocket!

Too big of a sprocket!
I recently installed a 57t sprocket (+14 over oem) on my 03 R1 and didn't think about the chain clearance when the rear was under load. Well, today, while riding my chain gave out on me because it was getting beat up by the upper portion of my swing arm.
Can anyone tell me what going -1 up front = to going up in the rear. I was told that -1 up front = +3 in the rear. I need to get a smaller sprocket for the back, but I loved how the +14 made the bike accelerate. I was thinking -2 & +8. Any opinions or recomendations?

Re: Too big of a sprocket!
its not about front = rear....its about ratios...
front : rear = ratio...
example...
16 : 39 = 0.41025 (1 complete turn of the front cog spins the wheel 0.41025 times)
play with that mathematic relation... and figure it out.... its a simple ****

Re: Too big of a sprocket!
do the math, rear sproket divided by front sporket gives you your ratio 45 divided by 15 is 3, 1 tooth on the front is to 3 teeth on the rear
52 divided by 13 is 4, 1 tooth.........equals 4
...tomorrow boys and girls its Geometry, class dis-missed haha
